An Electronic Component can be defined as an electronic device that has at least two or more metal pads or leads connecting them. In general, an electronic component is connected to a second component i.e. the printed circuit board that creates an electronic circuit by making use of the soldering process. The components can be purchased by themselves i.e. capacitor, transistor as well as resistors, even an electronic component may be purchased in groups, like integrated circuits. They can be purchased from any distributor of electronic components.
Typically, electronic components are mechanically stabilized and when enclosed in synthetic resin, they are protected from the effects of environmental. Electronic components can be classified as active or passive. Active components don't have gain or directionality. However, active components have directionality and gain.
