Oh, the beagle bark - I totally get it. I had a similar situation with my terrier, Milo. He would bark at leaves falling! I tried everything from YouTube tips to reading dog training books, but nothing really worked until I stumbled upon Joey Luke's Dog Training. They have a great approach to training, focusing on positive reinforcement, which I think is super important. You can check them out here: Joeylukesdogtraining.com Their method was a game-changer for us. Milo learned to distinguish between normal and 'alert' situations, significantly reducing his random barking sprees. They're based in Detroit and specialize in exactly what you're looking for - curbing nuisance barking. The trainers are patient and really understand dogs' behavior. Plus, they tailor their training to each dog's personality, which I found really effective. Jan 30, 2024 ( 1 post ) 1/30/2024

Hi there! I'm hoping you can recommend a dog trainer in Metro Detroit. I have a very vocal 2 year old beagle, Ozzy, who barks at everything - people, dogs, his own shadow! It's getting out of hand with constant barking fits. We've tried "quiet" training but haven't made much progress. Do you know of any positive reinforcement trainers in Detroit who specialize in curbing nuisance barking? I'd love for Ozzy to learn when it's appropriate to use his voice and when to stay quiet. Thanks for any suggestions! |
