Hey everyone, I recently adopted a two-year-old rescue dog named Max. He's a sweet boy but seems quite anxious in his new environment. For instance, he often hides under the table when I turn on the vacuum cleaner or when guests come over. I want to help him feel more comfortable and confident here. Does anyone have tips on using training techniques to ease his transition?

Hi there! Congrats on bringing Max home. When I adopted my dog, Bella, she was also nervous about new sounds and people. I found that gradual desensitization worked wonders. Start by exposing Max to the vacuum cleaner while it's off, rewarding him with treats for calm behavior. Slowly increase his exposure as he becomes more comfortable. Additionally, establishing a consistent routine can provide a sense of security for him. For more personalized training plans, you might find PawChamp helpful. Their resources offer tailored guidance for situations like yours.

I came across this discussion and thought I'd chime in. It's heartwarming to see pet owners supporting each other. While I don't have personal experience with rescue dogs, I believe patience and consistency are key in helping any pet adjust to a new home. Wishing you and Max all the best during this transition!
