The Original Full Strength Band now available at Amazon
A book depicting the best band that did not make it in the music scene is now available on Amazon. The book, The Original Full Strength Band, is a light-hearted memoir publication that emphasizes the author’s experience in the world of music.
Written by Efrain Cortes, it is a nonfiction, semi-autobiographical short story that takes place in the early 1970s to the late 1980s in Manhattan and the Bronx in New York City.
The book, which also tells about the author playing alongside other well-known musicians that still play sold-out concerts to this day, is a comedy, a drama, and a collection of memories of old clubs that no longer exist, especially Harlem World.
While nostalgically describing the title and content of the book, the author had this to say: "The Original Full Strength Band from the Wagner projects to the house band in Harlem World—I have always had fond memories of playing with probably the best band never to make it. The label wanted us to sound more chic. Little did I know, that was the beginning of the end.” He also added that the moral of the story is not to judge a book by the cover.
Voice of the readers
The book has received positive reviews from the people who have read it. One reader said that he enjoyed reading it, describing it as “a piece that takes the reader back into the era of funk and disco.” The reader further went on to describe the book as “humbling, informative and comedic”— a nice read that insightfully talks about the band and the kind of music it played to its fans.
Another reader described the book as a great addition to the reading list, adding that it is a page turner. The kind of story that one does not put away until getting to the last page.
It has also been hailed as an exceptionally good book where readers are promised to get a story that they will enjoy. ”So very happy that this book was published!” exclaimed the reader, who had purchased and read the book just a few days ago.
ABOUT the Book
The book is a recollection of the author in his days before and during his days in The Original Full Strength Band in the 70's and 80's. They had played at different gigs in and around the New York and New Jersey areas, including but not limited to Harlem World, Marcus Garvey Park and Recreational Center, Wagner Projects, as well as The Elks Club in Newark, New Jersey.
