Partnership That Will See Economic Empowerment of the Black and Brown Entrepreneurs
Newark Business Hub (NBH)and Rutgers University have come together to elevate Black and Brown entrepreneurs. Through this partnership, an access to NBH online learning community, which includes live interaction between participants and coaches, will be provided. The 24/7 community gives participants answers and advice and one-on-one coaching.
Announcing the launch of the program, Kenneth M. Karamichael, EdM,director of Rutgers Office of Continuing Professional Education (OCPE), hailed the partnership and added that the fruits of the initiative will be reaped for years to come. He also said that the partnership shows the commitment of Rutgers University to racial justice and in addressing inclusivity issues in the business world. “With over a century of professional and global workforce development experience, this vital partnership represents Rutgers Office of Continuing Professional Education’s latest commitment toward advancing the business skills and opportunities for people of color—established businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs,” said Karamichael, hailing NBH education content as suitable at a time when the pressure for social and racial justice has picked up. Rutgers OCPE offers world-class, technology-driven resources. The partnership with NBH will deliver tangible results that will change Black and Brown communities.
With their partnership, NBH and OCPE aim to empower more than one million Black and Brown entrepreneurs globally by providing them the skills, mentorship, and community, which are necessary for these entrepreneurs to succeed.
According to Jeff Billingsley, NBH cofounder and chief curriculum officer, the 360-degree entrepreneurship certificate program, which they are offering with OCPE, is at the heart of their mission to help aspiring and underserved entrepreneurs of color. By elevating entrepreneurs, Billingsley believes they will have helped in creation of wealth not just in United States but also globally.
NBH also seeks to partner with America’s top brands. The online business aims to provide entrepreneurs with management skills that will make their enterprises productive and profitable.
Newark Business Hub is a nonprofit American business that uses education technology. Established in 2015 by Black cofounders and award-winning pro-social entrepreneurs, Kimberlee S. Williams and Jeff Billingsley, the company started as a pilot program incubated by Rutgers University Center for Urban Entrepreneurship and Economic Development.
