MODESTY IN DRESS AND TEMPERANCE
MODESTY IN DRESS AND TEMPERANCE
When Jesus was asked this direct question: "What good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?"
Jesus gave the man this direct answer: "Keep the Commandments."
When the man asked: "Which" commandments?" Jesus quoted from the Ten Commandments and added: "Love your neighbor as your self" (See Matthew 19:17)
The Ten Commandments are the Commandments of God. They are the law that defines sin:
"Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." 1 John 3:4
While not Commandments of God, that define sin, the scriptures teach modesty in dress and temperance to protect us from temptation that could lead to transgression of the law.
