"COTTON CANDY PREACHIN'"

Dear Reader,

You have a responsibility, before God, to judge teaching for yourself.  The prophet Isaiah has given us this standard for judgment:

"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." Isa 8:20 (KJV)

A true Christian has faith in Jesus Christ and keeps The Commandments of God.  "Cotton Candy Preachers" are in most of todays churches.  They have left the faith that was once delivered to the saints ...

"COTTON CANDY PREACHIN' "

Sweet-talking preachers have duped multitudes of sinning Christians into thinking they will have eternal life because they "believe".

Oh, how the crowd loves to hear the soft smooth words of the flattering preachers. They are drawn to the sweet message that they may continue sinning and still have eternal life. This kind of preachin' can be compared to cotton candy.  When you bite into cotton candy it simply melts in your mouth with a sweet, sticky aftertaste - but there is really nothing to it.

In reality, neither cotton candy nor cotton candy preachin' have any life sustaining value and yet people eagerly line up to pay their hard earned money for a little bit of colorful sugar that has been cleverly spun with a whole lot of hot air! What the church needs is preaching with some real
substance - hard truths that will build up our inner man in the same way that healthy food strengthens our physical bodies.

Cotton candy preachers tell believers that their past sins are forgiven because of Christ's suffering on the cross. (justification) but they never teach them that they MUST stop all intentional disobedience to God's Ten Commandment Law completely and forever to qualify for eternal life. (sanctification)  In Hebrews 12:14 NAS, we read:

"Pursue peace with all men, and the SANCTIFICATION without which no one will see the Lord."

We MUST overcome sin (through Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit) before we die.  That is why Jesus, the apostles, and the prophets have given us so many warnings to cease from sin.  By God's grace, our past sins are forgiven and by God's grace we are given the power to
overcome sin.  Let us soberly consider these words of Jesus about how many will inherit eternal life:

"Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and MANY are those who enter by it.
For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and FEW are those who find it."  Mat 7:14

That narrow way that leads to life is the way of the "overcomer."  Jesus said that only those who overcome will eat of the tree of life.  (Rev 2:7)

If we don't overcome sin in this life, we will have receivedthe grace of God in vain and on judgement day we will be without excuse.  Now is the time for us to cry out to God for deliverance from the power of our corrupt nature.  When God hears our cry, he will quickly enable us to cease from sin through the power of the Holy Spirit.  Power from God is our only hope for attaining the overcoming victory that God requires of us.

In order to overcome sin, the people of God must be steadfast in their obedience to God's commandments during times of temptation and persecution.  Unfortunately, many often prove themselves to be weak and childish falling for every deception and temptation that Satan has to offer.

What is the reason for this lack of vitality in professing Christianity?  It is their diet. They are trying to subsist on cotton-candy preachin'.  These so-called preachers spin out sermons that give believers who are committing sin a false assurance of salvation.  Their words sound sweet to the
crowd but they contradict what Jesus taught. Let us seriously consider this warning that Jesus gives to the one who knows the Master's will and refuses to do it:

"...And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes."  Luke 12:47

We can be sure that no one who has eternal life will receive a beating.  It is the rebels who will be beaten with many stripes.  Sinning believers are not only rebels, they are also traitors who call Jesus "Lord" but betray Him by their intentional disobedience to His authority.  Unless they
stop sinning completely and forever, they will be punished with Satan and his angels who also "believe" but do not obey.

We should listen to this warning of Jesus with fear in our hearts:

"...If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off, and throw it from you; for it is better for you that one of the parts of your body perish, than for your whole body to go into hell."  Matthew 5:30

Believer;  Whom do you really believe?  Do you believe Jesus who said...

"If you would enter life, keep the commandments." Mat 19:17

Or do you believe the "cotton candy" preachers who tell those who break God's law the same lie that the Devil told Eve when she disobeyed God...

"Ye shalt not surely die." Gen 3:4

There is no middle ground.  You are either following the "cotton candy" preachers on the broad way that leads to destruction or you are following Jesus on the narrow way of complete obedience to The Law of God.
