Update Received May 2009: Hello, I am writing with a happy ending story about a dog we adopted in March. His name is Tonka. The very first time I met Tonka, I had a good feeling about him. He was sweet, curious and friendly. However, it was not unitl we had him come over for a home visit that the deal was sealed. Tonka came over to meet my 2 young kids (4 and 6) and our 2 cats. He came right in, looked around, faced the cat and left him perfectly alone. When he met the kids, they ran around the yard with him, picked him up, carried him etc. etc. No matter what they did, Tonka was curious, calm and patient. Tonka fit right in to our household immediately. He loves to be with us no matter where we go. He loves to ride in the car and go to the dog parks. He is doing great on the leash. He is solid with sit, down, come, stay and play dead. When it is raining, he even waits at the door to get his paws wiped off. He loves to lay in the sun and play with the kids in the yard. Everyone who meets him instantly falls in love with him. Coming in to our household, Tonka had some big paws to fill. Before adopting him, we had tragically lost our beautiful 2 year old German Shepherd. It seems Tonka has taken on this task with ease. He is no grand pure bred, but a shelter dog with a good heart. He loves our family without question, and we love him. I couldn't have predicted or expected how healing it would be to rescue this dog, for us and for him. Thanks to everyone at All Dog Resuce who were so helpful in finding us the perfect pal!
