“Abstain from all appearance of evil.” 1 Thess 5:22
“Abstain from all appearance of evil.” 1 Thess 5:22
This question was asked: “Help me understand what people mean when they say they are in a relationship. I would like to wish them well; but can't because I don't know what ‘relationship’ represents.”
The answers I received were not consistent! That tells me that “relationship” is a pleasing expression used in place of one which is plainer or more accurate --but might be offensive. A euphemism is a sweet device that the world uses that confuses the difference between righteousness and sin. We can expect the children of the devil to confuse right and wrong --but let it never be said of the children of God!
The words and actions of a Christian must always be pure. We must never give an appearance of evil:
“Abstain from all appearance of evil.” 1 Thess 5:22
Let our testimony use honorable words like: married, engaged, betrothed. They promote the chastity and purity that is approved by God.
