CHRISTIANS ARE CITIZENS OF ANOTHER KINGDOM

CHRISTIANS ARE CITIZENS OF ANOTHER KINGDOM

The Roman Empire was filled with debauchery and had wickedness in high places. Yet, Jesus and the apostles' voices were never heard in the streets against that government. No! They were citizens of another kingdom where God reigns over His obedient people. They were sent to preach the good news of the kingdom of heaven. Followers of Christ are to be a light to the world so that it can witness the peace and joy of people who walk in the light of God’s word.

When Jesus prayed to the Father, He said:

“I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” John 17:14-16

SANCTIFY THEM THROUGH THY TRUTH: THY WORD IS TRUTH John 17:17

Here, the scriptures define “THE TRUTH”

“Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.”

“Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth.”

“Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever.”
Psalms 119:142;151-152

JESUS SANCTIFIED HIMSELF FOR OUR SAKE

“As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

THAT THEY ALL MAY BE ONE, AS THOU, FATHER, ART IN ME, AND I IN THEE, THAT THEY ALSO MAY BE ONE IN US: THAT THE WORLD MAY BELIEVE THAT THOU HAST SENT ME.“ John 17:18-21

Considering those things, we see that the correction, exhortations and instructions for right living were directed to people who had already been called by God. Only the salt with savor can be an influence against corruption. Otherwise, it is good for nothing; but to be trodden under the feet of men.
