Testimony Song - Words & music by Mike Edsall
This song was sung at our college campus, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, about
1974 in our college ministry years.  Mike sang at our wedding, and is still
doing college ministry in Oregon with his wife.  Oh, that every college student
will have the opportunity to know Christ!

I was walking out my doorway when my father said to me
"Son I'd like to hear the story of this thing that set you free.
And I'd like to know the reason that you make a stand
On the teachings of a dead man and that book that's in your hand."

"It's the Word of God," I told them.  "And I wish you'd look it through.
It explains about salvation and how Jesus died for you."

"Found my friends the same as always, drinking beer and smoking dope
Getting high because they had to.  Had to 'cuz they had no hope.
And when I finally would not join them, they asked me why I had changed.
What was it that made me different.  Why was I acting so strange?"

"It's the Word of God", I told them.  "And I wish you'd look it through.
It explains about salvation and how Jesus died for you."

Eighteen years I lived in darkness.  Eighteen years I lived in shame.
Eighteen years...they're all behind me by the power of Jesus' name.
And I pray that He would guide me, be my Lord and be my King.
In His Word I see His glory, and I owe Him everything.

"It's the Word of God", I told them.  "And I wish you'd look it through.
It explains about salvation and how Jesus died for you."
