While the Bible does contain rules and guidelines for living a righteous life, it also offers us the promise of grace and favor through faith in Jesus Christ.
Scripture on grace and favor teaches us that salvation is not earned through our own efforts or good works, but rather it is a gift freely given to us by God through faith in Jesus Christ. As it says in Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast".
Furthermore, Scripture on grace and favor assures us that God's love and favor towards us is not based on our own merit, but rather on His unchanging character and nature. As it says in James 1:17, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
