All the way from Alpine skiing to speed skating and everything between: Here are the different sports included in this year's Beijing Games in 2022. Six months after the fire was put out in Tokyo in the summer of the Winter Olympics 2022 Live Stream begin again in February. 4. Beijing (and the 50-mile distance to the north from that in Yanqing in Yanqing and 100 miles to the north at Zhangjiakou).
Here's a look at each game that is scheduled to be played during this year's Games held in China.
Alpine Skiing
Mikaela Shiffrin, who took home the gold medal in 2014 and in 2018 and is expected to win an additional third, or perhaps more. She's still in the top position of her game. And in November she broke the record set by her career of World Cup wins in a single discipline in slalom, in slalom. Petra Vlhova of Slovakia and Lara Gut-Behrami as well as Michelle Gisin of Switzerland will also be contenders.
In the events for men, Alexis Pinturault of France has two silvers and a bronze medals at the Games however, she is hoping for gold No. 1. She is the current World Cup overall champion.
There are three disciplines: downhill which is the fastest of the events; super-G with additional turns the giant slalom which has many turns and then slalom. It is the most difficult and slow event. There's also a combination event (downhill and Slalom) and a mixed gender team slalom race.
Biathlon
Try the endurance test of cross-country skiing, and shake it up each few miles by having skiers stop and aim rifles on targets. There are too many misses and skiers have to take a penalty lap. Germany, France, Sweden and Norway should win the most medals.
Bobsled
In addition to the four-man, two-man and two-woman races is just one event: women's monobob. First world champions were named at the end of this season: Kaillie Humphries, a two-time Olympic gold medalist from Canada who is now represented by in the United States. However, Humphries has yet to receive U.S. citizenship to compete in Beijing.
Humphries has also been crowned the best woman in the double bob world championship together with Lolo Jones acting as the pusher.
Cross-Country Skiing
Norway is the top player in this field however, it is the United States claimed its first gold medal in 2018 , when Jessie Diggins and Kikkan Randall took home in the relay sprint. Diggins is expected to return in 2022. The renowned Norwegian Marit Bjorgen resigned from Olympic competition following her eight gold medals in three Games.
Curling
For many Americans who appear to be embracing the granite rock and brooms that curl at least every 4 years the event to remember from the 2017 Games were that of the U.S. men, led by John Shuster, streaking to the gold medal following an uneasy 5-4 start. It is worth noting that the Swedish males and Swiss women have had the best results since the beginning of the year and Canada is always a potential contender.
Figure Skating
Deep Russian team won the top three places in the women's event at the world championships last year which saw the 17 year old Anna Shcherbakova on top.
It's a shame that the American Nathan Chen skated a poor short program in the past four years that pushed him out of the race. However, he took home his third consecutive silver medal in the world championships this year. A possible match with Yuzuru Hanyu from Japan who was the 2018 and 2014 Olympic champion will be a major event to remember during the Games.
In the pair event, Sui Wenjing and Han Cong might bring gold medal to the nation hosting. In ice dancing, Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov from Russia are world champions.
Freestyle Skiing
The six sports are. In the aerials and in the new big air event, skiers throw themselves off the ramp, and then perform twists, flips, and turns. In halfpipe, they compete inside a bowl that is U-shaped while in slopestyle, they race down a slope with the use of rails, jumps and. In moguls they ski through a bumpy terrain and are judged by the speed, turns and jumps.
The only thing that's not judged but rather timed is the ski cross race where skiers compete against each other in four-person groups.
Canada has won four gold medals during the previous Games and no other country won at least one. The team is headed by moguls' superstar Mikael Kingsbury, who is the reigning Olympic champion.
Ice Hockey
After being absent in 2018, N.H.L. players will be returning to the Games with a star-studded field. It is believed that the United States (Patrick Kane and Auston Matthews), Canada (Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid) and Sweden (Nicklas Backstrom and Victor Hedman) could be the best teams in the world on paper.
China will also participate in the event for men despite the fact that there are concerns that the team isn't at all sufficient to compete.
In the women's race, Canada and the United States have taken home the entire six gold medals since the sport was added as well as five out of six silver medals. Finland, Russia and perhaps Switzerland will likely compete for bronze.
Luge
Germans have won 34 out of the 48 medals of gold in this sports throughout the years, and seven of the eight gold medals they have won in the last eight years.
In case you're not sure that luge is the first-to-foot racing sledding; Skeleton is head-first.
Nordic Combined
To compete in Nordic combined events, athletes need to be skilled in two diverse events: cross-country ski as well as ski jumps. After several years of Norwegian dominance, Germany won all three gold medals at the recent Games.
Nordic coupled is sole Olympic sport that does not have the women's competition, but this could change in 2026.
Skeleton
Then there's the headfirst skiing event. In the event, United States does much better with this, winning three out of 12 medals given to date. (The Americans have never won the luge gold.) Germany, Austria and Russia are the three countries to keep an eye on this year.
It's a game which beats athletes to death due to the force of gravity and the shocks that rattle the sledders.
Ski Jumping
Men compete into "normal hills" as well as "large hills" competitions, whereas female jumpers who entered at the Games since the beginning of 2018, have been restricted to the normal hill. Also, there is a mixed-gender team competition that was added this year.
There are some who have claimed that the highest point of the tower for ski jumping which is where the athletes wait prior to the thrilling jump is the most peaceful spot during the Games.
Snowboarding
A few of the events are similar to those in freestyle skiing, including large air, halfpipe slopestyle, and the snowboard cross (rather than ski cross). There's also a head-to-head giant slalom race.
One of the top performers of the 2018 contest One of the stars of the 2018 competition, the American halfpipe gold medalist Chloe Kim, will be back to defend her gold medal and will make the appearance of "The Masked Singer" already under her belt. Three times gold medalist Shaun White plans to be back at 35.
Speedskating
Long-track speed skating, where athletes typically race two at a against time is mostly dominantly dominated by the Dutch. They have won seven gold medals out of 14 in 2018, and eight of twelve in the year 2014. In 2014, the United States, behind the world champions Joey Mantia and Brittany Bowe is hoping for an initial gold medal for the first time since 2010.
Short-track, which has several skaters racing, and occasionally colliding over an extremely tight track, which provided China with its sole gold medal at this year's Games. South Korea will also be an important participant. Although it is true that the United States picks up medals from time to time however, it has not been able to win any gold since Apolo Ohno in the year 2006 and 2002.
