History
The University of Dundee started as a University College in 1881, thanks to a generous bequest from cousins Mary Ann and John Boyd Baxter. The Baxter family came from Dundee, Scotland, and gained their money in jute mills, which played a crucial role in Scotland's industrial revolution.
The goal of establishing this educational institute was to "promote the education of both sexes as well as the study of Science, Literature, and the Fine Arts." Furthermore, the institute lacked a religious oath and had no plans to offer Divinity courses.
In 1897, the university became a constituent college of the University of St. Andrews, and in 1967, it was granted independent status by the Royal Charter, with the Queen Mother serving as its first chancellor.
The University of Dundee has evolved into one of the UK's top educational institutions, offering over 200 undergraduate degree combinations in a variety of subjects. The University of the United Kingdom established academic and research opportunities for both UK and non-UK students, providing them with the knowledge, experience, and technical skills required to stimulate local and global change.
The University is divided into eleven academic colleges, each with its own research institutes and groups. These are some of them:
Duncan of Jordan stone College of Art & Design (which is one of the leading art schools in the UK)
School of Business
School of Dentistry
School of Education and Social Work
School of Health Sciences
School of Humanities

This UK university has vigorously pursued expansion and development since gaining independence. Aside from classrooms, the school offers four libraries spread over three sites, with over 750 computers and other resources available to students all year.
