Four Core Areas Of Focus

Affiliate/Digital Marketing - The Four Core Areas Of Focus

Core Focus Number 1 - Traffic

Whether you are an affiliate marketer promoting other people's offers, or you have your own products. You cannot do it without traffic.

You can have the best sales page and product but without traffic, you aren't going to make any sales. The first thing you should understand about traffic is you will ALWAYS pay for it in one form or another. Every visitor you generate has been paid for in either time (organic traffic) or money (paid traffic) or it could be a combination of both.

1. Traffic you control -  You can pay (paid ads) platforms like Facebook to control the flow of some of their visitors. Until you learn and master the skillset of paid ads I would stay away from this strategy otherwise you could initially lose money.

2. Traffic you don't control - This type of traffic is a result of organic efforts and there is no way to predict how much of this traffic will show up. My number one tip with organic traffic is joining private groups on Facebook around your niche and seeking out people in these groups who are actively asking for help and you know you can give help and value to. This just requires you to be helpful and requires no pitching at all and when people start responding to you positively you can then add them to your friend's list.

Core Focus Number 2  - List Building

The second core focus is building a database of contacts from the traffic you have generated i.e. building an email list of people you can communicate with whenever you so choose. This gives you the chance to communicate regularly with people either offering valuable information that helps build that rapport or recommending them to a product or service which you think will benefit them and in turn earning you a commission.

To build your email list, you're going to need three things

  • Autoresponder
  • Something of value to offer for free (the bribe) like a free blueprint, cheat sheet or ebook.
  • Capture pages

What is an autoresponder?

What do you mean by a bribe? Your audience will just not hand over their email address without a good reason to do so. Therefore, you need to offer them something that is desirable that wants them to exchange their email address with you in order to receive it.

To give an example, you gave your email address in exchange for this document. I now know you are interested in affiliate marketing and I am now able to send you any products or services I think you might benefit from and again, in turn, earn a commission if you buy from any of my affiliate links I may send you in the future.

What is a capture page? In order to build your email list, you need a webpage (capture page) you can direct your traffic to in order to exchange their email address for your FREE bribe offer.

There are two pages you will need to set up.

1. Opt-in Page - The opt-in page is the initial page where you will send your traffic to (commonly known as the squeeze page). The purpose of this page is to capture the visitor's email address in exchange for the FREE bride you are offering them. If the visitor enters their email address for the bride they will be captured to your autoresponder ready for follow up.

2. Bridge Page - The bridge page is where visitor's will be directed to after they have entered their email address on your opt-in page. The purpose of this page is to thank the subscriber for requesting your bride, inform them where they can access it and what they can expect from you, and direct them on what you'd like for them to do next,  which would typically be to click a button or link on the page in order to look at the product/service that you are recommending as an affiliate.

Strategy 3 - Follow Up

Some people will purchase the product/service you are selling on first look but not everyone will and might take more convincing. This is when you need to follow up via email which is an on-going process in which you must remain consistent.

While your main goal in following up is to ultimately make sales, it is not the only thing you should be thinking about. Most of the people that join your email list will not know who you are or even if you can help them. Therefore, it is vitally important that you constantly focus on delivering value in order to get people to know you, like you, and over time trust you.

I cannot stress the importance of this step enough because the day you stop communicating with your list is the day they begin to forget who you are and over time you will stop generating income from your email list asset.

Strategy 4 - Sales Process

You have to have a sales system right? Yes, of course, there is no point driving traffic, capturing people's email addresses onto your list or following up if you're never going to make offers. That is how money is made.

It is, however, important to be selective with the products/services you choose to share with your audience. You don't want to be promoting something solely on making a quick buck you want to be promoting something that has the best interests at heart and how that product/service can benefit your subscribers.

Value your list and continue to promote products/services that benefit your subscribers and don't jeopardize long term gains by destroying the relationship you have with those people for a short term income.
