45 - Santa Ana Nichi 2 --Dec 10
Santa Ana Nichi 2
I went walking one day and came across this family and talked and talked with them.
I dont know if they were use to my white skin or accent, because they just kept giggling and giggling at me. :)
The cemetary right by their house was sooo sad, becaus half the cemetary was adult graves and literally the other half were all babies, look at the size of the graves, I couldnt belive how many babies had died.
The leftover decorations from Dia de los Muertos
I absolutely love going on walks everyday and just praying and thinking through everything, and meeting and talking with people.
Then, on Wednesday, school was cancelled because they had a Sport Olympics Day for the teachers in all the surrounding schools up in the mountains.
The womens futbal team went into penalty kicks and the principle of the school saved a shot for us to win!
The kids were sooo excited!
Then, I got invited to play on the mens team too! So, that was a blast! And the kids were all shouting "Moni, Moni" thats what they call me, it was a cool afternoon.
We also played basketball, well I tried. But the good thing was, is that Im the average height here!! :)

That's really sad about the graves. But that action shot of you about ready to kick the soccer ball brought back many happy memories. And those costumes are beautiful.

Monica the kids are so precious! Is it hard leaving all the different kids that you meet and teach? I'm glad you're still able to dominate the soccer field in Mexico!

Do you know why so many babies have died? Is it lack of immunizations, etc.?

Mom - I dont know why the babies die, my guess is they dont have a doctor, and just dont have much, and its freezing.
Ames - Ya, its really hard to meet all these people, and then leave. Im so grateful for the experiences, but the truth is its really hard on the heart.
C - ya, it was fun to play with the guys, and today one of they guy teachers asked me out on a date. it was awkward. i said, i was really busy.

Mon, you are so brave!!! I don't know how you always go and meet new people and talk to them...in a different language, nonetheless!!! But then again, you have always had that gift. Keep sharing the love of Christ!
