Jennifer's Grad Luncheon at The Union Hotel
Jennifer's Grad Luncheon at The Union Hotel
After Jennifer graduated on December 13th, 2008 from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, we traveled to The Union Hotel Bed and Breakfast, in Los Alamos, about 45 minutes south of the college. Tom and I and Nanny Peggy stayed here on Friday night, before the graduation day.
The Union Hotel was built in 1887, as a stage coach stop. We discovered this place in 1978, two years after we were married. We knew the old owner, Richard, who had done the original renovation and had opened it as a bed and breakfast. We also were friends with the next owner, Chris, who owned it for 12 years. She hosted Katharine's Grad luncheon here when she graduated from Cal Poly.
Unfortunately, Chris went off the deep end into a mental illness, and was nearly forclosed on by the bank.
Dana ( center) and his wife are the new owners of the Union Hotel.

Upstairs at The Union Hotel -
Dana and his wife have done a lot of work in renovating and restoring The Union Hotel, which was trashed by the former. slightly crazy owner.
Sitting area
View of Sitting area from stairs. The upstairs area is heated completely by the black furnace between the poles, which belches out a lot heat.
