Scroll down to NEW to see the added pix. A neighbor here (who I didn't do any work for or know that well) recommended me to his friend in Alpharetta who had just bought a new house and needed some help. I guess word is getting around. I got a whole laundry list and got the bid. Started with a three legged claw foot tub.

I guess word is getting around. I got a whole laundry list and got the bid. Started with a three legged claw foot tub.
The missing leg is the one back in the corner (of course). I used a flashlight and mirror to check it out. They had the leg. The bolt wouldn't hold it any more.
So in the end I used epoxy. That seemed to work. I told the homeowner she could check it out this evening. Guess I'll hear about it if it doesn't hold!
Round two was to repair the tile floor. Worst tile job ever for whoever put it in. I pulled a couple of loose tiles and, as usual, found a couple of dozen more.
Used my Dremel and a grout bit this time around. It really chews up the grout. Much of it was broken due to un-stiff subfloors. The lower square here was very uneven and higher than its neighbors so I had to grind a bunch of it out.
But in the end it was all firmly glued down and regrouted. Looked pretty good. If it cracks again they need to pull up all the tile and resecure the subfloor.
On to downstairs. They wanted those "picture frames" added under their existing chair railing in the Dining room. They didn't like the first 'standard' molding I provided so they went out and picked out this style. Here I set up one frame for their approval.
The first two days on this job were interupted by late afternoon thunderstorms. As the garage was half full of old furniture going to the Salvation Army, moving my work inside kept it dry but I didn't have any room to operate.
They also wanted the living room fit out with Crown molding, complete with Picture Molding spaced underneath. I purchased all the materials for them and got two coats of paint on them.
On Friday, Sue came along and we got the molding up on the three long sides of the Living room. In fact, it was up by 12:30pm and I took Sue home and picked up some needed 2" airgun nails.
The outside wall was broken up by a fireplace and two tall domed windows. The fireplace already had the molding (I was matching it), but I had to replace the crown section on the fireplace as the new stuff would not join properly with the old. The old stuff was really put up screwy. Notice the treatment to interupt the molding over the windows.
The section between the moldings will be painted white after I complete the filling and caulking. Already an improvement.
NEW
So here is the finshed product. The treatment around the windows echos the way it was done in the dining room.
The rest of the room looks good too.
So the living room is done, and so is the dining room.
You can see 'picture frames' flanking either side of the sideboard, just like I planned it.
The homeowner's liked it.
This corner got a couple of frames too. There were three more in the front of the room, but they are normally hidden by a large drapery treatment.
Now back upstairs. Time to paint the master bedroom and bath.
Nice room. The homeowner's moved the furniture for me.
Didn't take long to cut in. But before I could do that, I had to paint the wall-ceiling joint with ceiling paint and the wall-baseboard joint with semigloss white. Doing so covers up the old paint color where it strays onto the ceiling and baseboard.
I use an edged roller to cut in the ceiling and doorways, and one of those paint pads over the baseboard.
And it looks pretty decent after its rolled. The real color isn't as bright as it shows here. Looked good.
And finally, back to the bath. Here I used tape to mask everything but the ceiling. All the cabinets and counter tops had to be taped anyway.
All kinds of tape.
Tape even for the tile.
But it worked. It took longer to cut it in than it took to roll it.
But it too looked good in the end. BTW, all lights, switch covers, towel bars, etc. came off before painting and went back on after painting.
There was another fancy cabinet in the commode area.
Again, the color is brighter here, the original was more muted and looked very nice.
So here is a final of the bedroom all put back together.
Dinky TV.
The homeowner's paid in full, though there wasn't much praise. Hope they were happy. It all looked good to me.
Bonus Bonus
Reagan went off to a birthday party at the lake and we got custody of Issac last Saturday. For a change, he slept for more than twenty minutes at a time! It was actually over two hours! And this pic was not photoshopped!
What the??
I never get pix of me. So when I saw the big framed mirror in the bath, I took advantage of it. Maybe I should have skipped this step . . .
BONUS
We baby sat the grandkids on the 8th (the day before work started above.) Here are Reagan and Isaac at play.
Reagan actually didn't want her picture taken. But I stole this one anyway.
Call or go all in? That is the question.
Bri and Chris came over to check out the kids too. I'll send out an update when I'm done. As always, take care.
