Market day at Zurich Hauptbahnhof
The giant clock as a meeting point at Zurich Main Trainstation.
Blue Angel, another favorite meeting point.
Landesmuseum - Swiss National Museum.
the back entrance
The museum is so big and has wide varieties of collections from pre-history to present times. We only visited one section.
Entrance fee for adults = 5 CHF.(free with Zurich Card)
Madonna and Jesus, limewood with original polychrome, second half of the 12th century.
Altar screen: Adoration of the Magi; Left wing: Circumcision of Christ; Right wing: Nativity
15th century stained glass.
Look at the decoration of this ice-cream and cake shop!
Fraumunster, with stained glass by the renown Marc Chagall.
Grossmunster, with the twin towers, the symbol of Zurich.
St. Peter, with largest clock face in Europe. The clock face has a diameter of 9 m and the minute hand of 4 m.
Most unfortunate time for us because the Fraumunster church was closed for repair.
The equestrian monument is Hans Waldman, the burgomaster and dictator of Zurich in 1483.
To cruise along Zurich Lake we had to go to a pier over at that bridge. With dark clouds looming, we decided not to.
Park for dogs!
Dog's pool and even dog's pee-pole (not in picture).
China Garten (Chinese Garden), a present from Kunming, the twin city of Zurich. Entrance fee 4 CHF, Zurich Card gets 25% discount.
Theme of the park is 3 friends in winter: the pine, the winter cherry and the bamboo.
The garden is a token of appreciation to Zurich for the technical help Swiss experts gave in developing Kunming's water supply and drainage system.
Chinese garden always comes with Chinese pavilion, but...... this Chinese man???
This Chinese Garden is one of the biggest gardens outside China.
