2005-07-23 Ireland Trip Page 6 - Galway - Riding horses

We took a bus and then hiked in off the main road to Dartfield Equestrian Centre.  There was hardly anyone there to go horseback riding because everyone was at the horse races in Galway.

Another furry friend to remind me of Sparky & Sally back home!

I rode a Connemar pony named "Freckles" and Kallene rode "Crow", a cross between an Irish draft horse and a thoroughbred.

The countryside is beautiful and I haven't been in an English saddle for about 34 years- a dream fulfilled!

Our guide let me do some posting on Freckles in the arena at the end

Inside their horse museum; look how big a horse's colon is!

We finally made it back to a little town to catch the bus back to Galway.

This sign was in the Galway train station!!!

Ready for our 3 hour ride back across the width of Ireland back to Dublin

Monica, on an English saddle, there is no horn as on the western saddle, but you use your body more to stay with the horse's movements, I feel !
