Clearing Clogged Sewer Lines
Use an forward jet (or an array of jets) to unblock a sewer line. To clear a obstruction it is best to use the forward jet(s), however, will only use just a tiny portion of the total GPM. This helps to reduce the loss of propulsion when the clearing of a line that is blocked. The forward jet is engineered to penetrate the blockage, allowing the rear jets that have more flow to clear the bulk of the blockage. The forward jets could have a lower flow rate than the rear nozzles however, the pressure (PSI) is the same in all orifices.
You should also note that different pressures and flow rates are appropriate based on the materials involved in the obstruction. It's all a simple question; are you trying to cut through debris, or are you trying to flush out the line.
If there are heavy deposits in the sewer line the operator may choose to "step clean" the line by jetting a certain distance and then slowly retrieving the nozzle. Rear jets are able to take out heavy debris and other waste from the sewer line and then push back toward the user. The operator can then extend the hose even further up the line to step through the line to clean the next segment. Once again, the operator slowly retrieves the nozzle to flush the newly dislodged dirt out of the line.
