On of my favorite customers, Bri's boss, has another bedroom for me to fix up. Again, they wanted a paint job and a new floor.
This bedroom is in the top corner of the house and is differently shapped. Notice the rafter and sloped ceilings.
As before, the walls and carpet have seen better days. The new floor will be a Brazilian Cherry laminate and the walls will be a light blue.
The carpet came out without any blood being shed.
Here I tried to show y'all a messed up wall, and trust me, there's all kind of gunk here. And I found out that the carpet had already been replaced once. I could tell because under the padding was a second set of staples. Staples that had to be removed before the laminate goes down. I stopped counting at eighteen gajillion and seven.
All that carpet and padding got loaded up and taken to the dump. So ended day one.
Here's that funky corner in all it's glory. That part where the painted wall meets the sloped ceiling is not a sharp meeting, it's curved.
I decided to use white quarter round to match the baseboards. So I got a bunch of it painted up and then painted the doors, windows and baseboard too.
Here I've gotten the ceilings painted and a coat of primer on the walls. Some spots got three or four coats. First I'd washed the walls and baseboard, filled plenty of holes and sanded everything down.
So ended day two. Looks better, no?
Oh, guess what? There's another funky corner inside the closet!
Day three got the ceiling painted and the walls cut in. This is the only day three pic. Savor it.
Next was rolling the walls. The Mom and young lady picked out a nice light blue.
The four curved wall-ceiling joints all got painted freehand. They turned out pretty nice. Even in the closet.
Then in the afternoon the floor got started. It's going together pretty well, I just had to figure out how to brace one end if I had to pound on the other. The floor is real thin so it just slides under normal wedges.
I ended the fourth day here, with the next row turning the corner, so I'm leaving that for when I'm fresh in the morning.
Friday saw the rest of the flooring installed, except for the closet.
The closet, these two doorway transitions and the quarter round should get finished up on Monday. Then its immediately on to two stairways. Taking off the carpet and putting down oak. Have a nice weekend.
NEW
Monday saw the bedroom finished. Here's a shot from the doorway.
The transition came from Lowes while the flooring was on sale from Home Depot cuz the flooring didn't come with matching molding and Lowes had the best match. Because the bath tile has cement board under it and therefore sits high, I added some brown caulk to the gap between the transition and the tile. It looked real good in the end.
The flooring continues into the closet yet has to extend under both sides and the end of the dooway moldings. Remember that this stuff lifts and snaps together. So I've learned a few tricks to make it end up like this.
No leaves on the trees outside but looking pretty nice inside. BTW, the number of full boards left over . . . zero. The amount of quarter round left over . . . two pieces under 3' each. Dang, that was close.
Another job well done. Mom and her little girl are very happy. So now the homeowners want their two stairs done. More on that under separate cover. But next comes . . .

Jim and Kim took Reagan and Isaac to the Circus in Atlanta. The next day they stopped by for a quick visit and Reagan brought along her favorite new toy that she got at the circus.
It's a flashlight like device with multiple LED lights on flexible stalks embedded in silicone ends. The whole top is motorized and spins. A time exposure shows why she likes it so much. Compare this shot with . . .
. . . this one. Swirling sparklers from July 4, 1983.
Uh Oh . . . Pictures from Kim's Facebook page.
Here's Isaac and Kim in the ER at Cumming's Northside Hospital. Seems Isaac took a header into a boarder planting and caught a pine needle sliver just under his eye.
Mom and Dad took care of all the smaller stuff but the big one under the eye took some extra care. Isaac wasn't too happy about the whole thing.
But you can't keep a good kid down.
Back home safe and, mostly, sound. Everyone take care, even those who can't read yet.
