Ketchup I've fallen behind on sharing all the pix of our doin's but today is the day I get caught up. And like real ketchup, it's made of a variety of things . . .
Let's start with a family moving to Chicago who needs their house fixed up. Here I cleaned and caulked the trim around their front door.
Around back I removed some rotted wood . . .
and replaced it with some pressure treated stuff. Painted and caulked, it looked like new again.
Door sills are always a problem too.
Fixed, this time with bondo and a vinyl replacement brick mold.
Yea, another door sill.
And another fix. Then it was on to the inside.
They had a new floor put down, but needed moldings all around.
The kitchen island had been holed in the kickplate to allow drying (there had been an overflowing washer) so that need covering and molding.
And here it is good as new.
The rest of the island, eating area and kitchen got regular quarter round.
The laundry room needed baseboard. Not much room to work in here.
Then it was back to the outside. All the outsides of the eve troughs got cleaned along with a spot cleaning of the rest of the house.
Our Magnolia really put on the blooms this year.
And they are huge.
During the Great-Grandparents visit Jay and Claire dropped by.
As did Travis and Becca.
Here are the three grandkids with grandma.
These are not in chronological order, so now lets visit the HOA's tree removal project.
There were four large trees and four more smaller ones.
They were all on a slope, hip deep in juniper bushes. I had to hook up a 'come-along' to pull the biggest down in the right direction. All but one fell into the junipers which made the cut up and haul out a lot more difficult and time consuming.
My cart was buried as we took many many loads to the back.
Where everything was piled up in the corner.
It looked real nice when we finished.
But hauling one of the large logs with a rope collapsed the front of my cart.
So I unbolted the front and beat it back into shape.
After bolting it back on it is ready for more abuse.
Jay with his new pet, Ghost - just a puppy still. Claire's dog, Fennigan, looks on.
The video cameras over at the Clubhouse were taking terrible pictures. I got four new cameras but was surprized when I found out that the old camers worked fine with a new power supply.
So I returned the new cameras and just got one new large power supply. Then I hooked up the four old camera plugs to the new power supply and everything worked fine.
This spring the HOA needed a bunch of things done. Here's a new hose, hose bracket and water timer.
The brick edging around the pool needed work too.
The existing caulk was separating badly.
So I recaulked it all around the pool.
We've had a number of t-storms in the area this summer.
They get pretty angry looking but mostly just pass to one side or the other.
My oldest customers (in more ways than one - they're in their 80s) wanted to put in a CCTV video security system. I'd just played with one, so I did their installation too. Here I took down a ceiling tile to mount a camera in one corner.
I screwed the camera to a board on the other side of the tile. The board extends to the edges of the tile and is therefore supported by the rails. Worked well.
Another camera was mounted to monitor this area.
And this one too.
This camera in the living room covered the upstairs and I added one out front to cover the front door and its approaches. Getting the cables run to this camera was a real b1tch. There is an attic behind that wall where I had to crawl thru an 18" x 24" triangle in the roof bracing. And then back out. It wasn't fun in the 130 heat.
I ran all the cables to this corner of the basement where they went up through the floor to a bedroom.
I hooked up a 19" LCD TV as the monitor to the systems DVR. You can see all five cameras are working fine.
I teased a neighbor about his mailbox missing its door - and he asked me to replace it. That was a quick and easy one.
Back at the HOA, the interior double doors were only latched at the top and got "pushed open" one too many times. My hammer drill and a big cement bit helped get a floor latch in place. Problem solved.
While I was there, I noticed that a martin had made a nest in the top of the front porch at the Clubhouse. They were welcome to stay.
Isaac say's Hi.
As does Reagan.
Last week we went over to Trav's house to install a new electrical box. The boys want to use it for their home network. Probably has something to do with the modem and router sitting there.
The wall had closets on both sides but it was still the easiest one to use. I found a spot clear of studs and just clear of the weight machine.
I ran the cable down through the floor and then along the basement ceiling space over to their corner utility room. I left hooking up the RJ45 connectors to Trav.
I almost forgot the signs! The signs for our subdivision were in terrible shape. The wooden planks were separating and the paint was very faded.
Step one was to caulk all the cracks.
Then the backgrounds got a coat of paint.
Then all the raised areas got their colors. Sue insisted on the black details on the horse.
And she was right. Both signs looked real good when we finished.
A very new crescent moon sets on July 2nd.
And last night a just over half moon was pretty too. That's all for now. Jay is promising lots of pix from his Irish adventure. Maybe I'll get one or two on here for y'all. Take care.
